| The SPVA glossary is provided to educate our members about the latest industry terms and definitions. Sorted in alphabetical order.
- APCA — Australian Payments Clearing Association
- Associate Member — SPVA membership is open to any person(s) who have products or solutions that interact with secure POS payment terminals
- Australian Payments Clearing Association — APCA is the Australian payments industry's principal self-regulatory body
- Cartes Bancaires — In 1984, France established an interbank card payment and
cash withdrawal system called "Groupement des Cartes Bancaires" (CB). The CB system involves four stakeholders: cardholder, merchant (or ATM), cardholder’s bank (issuer) and merchant’s bank or ATM bank (acquirer).

- Currence — Facilitates a competitive market and to
create transparency in the uniform payment system in the Netherlands
while preserving and continuing to develop the quality, security and
efficiency of the uniform payment products
- EMVCo — A global standard for credit and debit payment cards based on chip card technology
- European Payments Council — EPC is the decision-making and
coordination body of the European banking industry in relation to
payments. The EPC develops the payment schemes and frameworks necessary
to realise the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA).
- General Member — SPVA membership is open to any person(s) whose primary focus is the development of secure POS payment terminals. Member must have at least one payment terminal listed on the PCI-SSC “approved PIN Entry Device” web page at the following URL: https://www.pcisecuritystandards.org/security_standards/ped/pedapprovallist.html
- Interac association — Responsible for the development and operations
of the Inter-Member Network (IMN), a national payment network that
allows Canadians to access their money through Automated Banking
Machines and Point-of-Sale terminals across Canada
- Management Committee — Consists of 5 Directors
- PCI Data Security Standard — PCI DSS; is a set of comprehensive requirements for enhancing payment account data security
- PCI DSS — PCI Data Security Standard; is a set of comprehensive requirements for enhancing payment account data security
- PCI Security Standards Council — An open global forum for the ongoing development, enhancement, storage, dissemination and implementation of security standards for account data protection.
